Courtney Owens, 34, was killed at her workplace, Royal Court Motors in Snellville, Georgia, on Friday afternoon, December 9, 2022. Police say a masked man with a firearm entered the dealership around 2:30 p.m., forced Owens to her knees and shot her; she was found dead inside the business from a gunshot wound.
Investigators initially described the motive as unknown but said the shooter may have known Owens or the business. Gwinnett County police later identified 23-year-old Wesley Vickers of Lilburn as the gunman and arrested him in early January 2023 on charges that included malice murder, felony murder and aggravated assault. Authorities also named 41-year-old Stoney Williams of Conyers — Owens’ ex-boyfriend and business partner — as a suspect, alleging he hired Vickers and paid him $20,000 to kill Owens; a warrant was issued for Williams and he was later located and arrested.
What detail about this case stands out to readers who knew Courtney or worked at the dealership?
