Mark Adam Griffin, 42, of Cedartown, Georgia, was shot and killed on the afternoon of December 4, 2022, during an altercation on Esom Hill Road in Polk County. He died of the injuries sustained in that exchange. The other person involved placed a 911 call and has been cooperating with investigators.
Polk County Police Chief Kenny Dodd announced that no charges had been filed against the shooter at the time, and the department was treating the case as a potential act of self-defense while awaiting a full investigation and an autopsy by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation crime lab. Griffin, known to family as Adam, worked as a Bridge Division Superintendent for Wright Brothers Construction and was active in the Unified Brothers Motorcycle Club.
He is survived by his wife Lena Dowdy Griffin, two daughters, his mother, and three brothers. Does anyone have information about Griffin, his activities on Esom Hill Road that day, or witnesses who saw the incident?
