Eddie Lee Davis Jr., a 65-year-old Black man from Macon, was found dead on the morning of November 2, 2022. Deputies responded after a report of an abandoned silver Chevrolet Impala with dark tinted windows in the 200 block of Clisby Place near Hazlehurst Street. He was discovered unresponsive in the back seat; the vehicle was reportedly still running, the gear shift was in drive, the driver’s door was open, and the left front tire was damaged.
Authorities said Davis had been shot; most early reports described a gunshot wound to the chest, while one later report based on incident documents described the wound as to the stomach. Investigators developed information pointing to 34-year-old Quartez Marquis Johnson. Tips placed a man matching his description near the 4900 block of Riverside Drive in Macon, where deputies located and apprehended him. He was taken to the sheriff’s investigation division for questioning and was charged with murder the same day; reports said he was being held without bond.
The sheriff’s office described the investigation as ongoing when the arrest was announced. Did anyone in the Macon area see that Impala or notice activity around Clisby Place on the morning of November 2, 2022?
