Eddie Lee Riddle, a 50-year-old Black man from Macon, Georgia, was found dead inside a home on Zebulon Road on October 2, 2022. Deputies were called at about 2:30 that afternoon and discovered him unresponsive with a gunshot wound; a deputy coroner pronounced him dead at the scene. Authorities initially described the incident as arising from a domestic dispute.
Investigators said the only other people known to be inside the house that day were Riddle’s wife, Lateesha Riddle, and her mother; both women were taken to the sheriff’s office for questioning. Early reports described a day of arguments that escalated into a physical confrontation before gunfire. Ten days later, on October 12, 2022, Lateesha Riddle turned herself in and was charged with murder and aggravated assault; the arrest affidavit reportedly accused her of grabbing a Jennings 9 mm handgun and shooting Eddie in the head.
There was public uncertainty in the days after the shooting about whether the death would be treated as criminal or justified. If anyone has information about what happened on Zebulon Road that afternoon or knew Eddie or his family, please come forward.
