On the evening of July 28, 2022, 41-year-old Juskesia Jae Bellamy was shot multiple times and killed on the front porch of his apartment at The Bloom at Morrow Apartments on North Lee Street in Morrow, Georgia. The shooting followed an ongoing dispute with the next-door neighbor. Bellamy was found deceased on the porch when Morrow police arrived after a 911 call placed by the neighbor.
The neighbor, 37-year-old Jamilah Iman Garcia Lopez, was identified as the suspect, taken into custody without incident and booked into the Clayton County Jail. Lopez was charged with murder, aggravated assault with intent to murder, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. At the time of his death, Bellamy had been battling cancer and was remembered by his wife as a beloved husband and father. An online fundraiser was started to help the family with funeral expenses.
Reports describe a long-standing dispute between neighbors but do not explain what sparked the deadly confrontation. Does anyone in the Morrow area have information about the dispute or witnessed what happened that night?
