A verbal argument on a Savannah street in the summer of 2022 escalated into fatal gunfire. Dominique Richardson, a 33-year-old Black man, was shot on the afternoon of July 21, 2022, on the 5400 block of Robinson Circle. He and another man, 20-year-old Isiah Foust, were taken to a local hospital; Richardson died of his injuries, and Foust’s wounds were described as non-life-threatening.

Police said the shooting began after a verbal dispute involving the two victims and a third man. Investigators identified 30-year-old James Dwight Dean as a suspect and took him into custody the same day. Dean was booked on initial charges of murder and aggravated assault, and a grand jury returned a multi-count indictment in June 2023 that included malice murder, two counts of felony murder, two counts of aggravated assault, and three counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.

The case remained in litigation into early 2024, with the lead prosecutor having left the district attorney’s office and a replacement expected. Does anyone have information about Dominique, about that block of Robinson Circle, or about the events of July 21, 2022?
