Elijah Rasheed was 28 when he was shot and killed in Macon, Georgia, on the evening of March 31, 2022. Rasheed was riding in a car with two friends after leaving a Family Dollar on Napier Avenue; the group had bought a bag of ice to celebrate a promotion. As they were driving away, a man who had been watching them in the parking lot fired a single shot into the vehicle. The bullet passed through the trunk and backseat and struck Rasheed. His friends rushed him to a local hospital, and he died while being transported to a trauma center.
Investigators say the shooter did not know the victims and that no words were exchanged before the attack. Police believe Rasheed and his friends were targeted because they were members of the LGBTQ+ community. Within a week, surveillance footage and eyewitness accounts led to the identification and arrest of a suspect, and officers recovered a 9mm pistol linked to the shooting.
If anyone was in the Napier Avenue Family Dollar parking lot that night or has other information about the shooting, please share what was seen or heard.
