Eddie Antonio Thomas, 42, was shot during a February 5, 2022 dispute at a residence on Bob White Road in Macon, Georgia. He was taken to a hospital after the shooting and released, but complications from the gunshot wound proved fatal. On March 11, 2022 Thomas was taken to Upson Regional Hospital and pronounced deceased; an autopsy confirmed his death resulted from the February gunshot injury.

The shooting investigation led to the arrest of 26-year-old Terrance Marquis Williams. Williams was initially charged with aggravated assault and released on bond. After Thomas died, charges were upgraded and a bench warrant for murder was issued on June 28, 2022. Terrance Williams later pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and received a 25-year prison sentence.
