ShaKia Strong was 24 when she was found dead in a Smyrna, Georgia hotel room on December 22, 2021. She had moved from Mississippi to pursue an acting career. The autopsy showed she was shot once in the neck and twice in the face.

Investigators say the case centered on ShaKia’s girlfriend, Selena Caprice Kellum, then 23 and a member of the Mississippi National Guard. Authorities reported the two had a domestic dispute that escalated into a fatal confrontation. After the shooting, Kellum allegedly gathered shell casings, packed her belongings, took $324 from Strong’s car, drove toward Biloxi, Mississippi, and hid evidence in a storage unit before turning herself in to local police.

Kellum was arrested in Gulfport, Mississippi, on December 31, 2021, extradited to Cobb County and charged with murder, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, tampering with evidence, and entering an automobile with intent to commit theft. A Cobb County jury convicted Selena Kellum on all counts in October 2024; she remained in custody awaiting sentencing.

Did anyone who knew ShaKia or saw her in Smyrna in December 2021 notice anything that could help explain what happened?
