Shaina Britt Underwood, 32, was killed in Rome, Georgia, on the night of November 6, 2021, after a verbal dispute at a residence on Robin Hood Lane escalated into violence. The dispute involved 42-year-old Calvin Bernard Crockett Jr. of Acworth. Crockett reportedly brandished a firearm, threatened Underwood, and fired, inflicting a mortal wound. He then allegedly moved Underwood’s body and a bag of marijuana at the scene.

Crockett was arrested and charged with murder, aggravated assault, tampering with evidence, terroristic threats, and weapons and drug offenses. His defense argued a history of a tumultuous relationship and claimed he acted in self-defense, saying Underwood had a knife. In December 2022 a jury acquitted Crockett of malice murder but convicted him of voluntary manslaughter and several related counts; sentences were imposed totaling 25 years, with 12 years to be served in prison.

Was anyone in Rome familiar with Shaina’s life or the dynamics between her and Crockett who can add context or remember that night?
