Shakeema Brown Jackson was 28 and had been a Fulton County sheriff’s deputy for just over a month when she was killed in her Covington, Georgia home on October 27, 2021. She lived on Windcrest Drive with her husband and their 17-month-old child; the child was in the house during the shooting and was not physically harmed. Her 30-year-old brother, Levoy Brown, was also fatally shot at the scene.

Her husband, Jaquavia Jackson, was at the house when deputies arrived and initially told investigators two intruders were responsible. Detectives grew suspicious and within two days arrested him, charging him with two counts of murder, two counts of aggravated assault, and two counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime. Prosecutors later said a motive was exposure of his infidelities: he had fathered children with two other women and allegedly tried to hide that with fraudulent DNA tests; Shakeema and he were due in court the morning after the killings on a hearing that would have revealed those issues.

A key detail prosecutors highlighted was that Jaquavia had asked a neighbor about security cameras on the day of the killings and was told they were not working. Does anyone have information about Shakeema’s life in Covington or the neighborhood around Windcrest Drive that could shed more light on this case?
