Connor Walsh Mediate was 24 when he was shot and killed in the parking lot of the Collingwood Apartments in Alpharetta, Georgia, on the evening of October 14, 2021. First responders found him unconscious in a pool of blood; he was pronounced dead at the scene. Connor had graduated from St. Francis High School and Kennesaw State University and was remembered by family for his warm smile, love of fishing and cars, and independent spirit.
The Alpharetta Police Department’s investigation led to two arrests on November 17, 2021: 17-year-old Cameron Walker and 18-year-old Jonathan Murray. Authorities say Walker arranged to meet Mediate under the pretense of buying marijuana but intended to rob him and brought Murray along; both were charged with criminal attempt to commit armed robbery and murder. The family endured years of delays in court and campaigned publicly after one defendant was released on bond.
In September 2025 the defendants entered plea agreements, pleading guilty to charges including voluntary manslaughter, criminal attempt to commit armed robbery, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, criminal attempt to purchase marijuana, and possession of a firearm; victim impact statements from Connor’s parents were delivered before sentencing. Did anyone who knew Connor or who was in the Alpharetta area that night see anything that could help complete the timeline?
