On October 12, 2021, 18-year-old Shamarian Chatfield was shot at the Neighborhood Gas Station on Napier Avenue in Macon, Georgia. Deputies responding to a call around 5:17 p.m. found him unresponsive; he was taken to Atrium Health Navicent and later pronounced dead. Witness accounts and investigators treated the incident as a targeted shooting, with authorities examining possible gang connections and retaliation motives.
In the months after the killing, several people were arrested on charges tied to the attack. Andrew Raqati Hollis, Reshawn Taylor, James Hotdric Tolliver and Antonio King were each charged with conspiracy to commit murder. Prosecutors later identified Ishaaq Taylor as the organizer of a retaliatory attack; he was convicted and sentenced to 60 years in prison for Chatfield’s murder. Chatfield had an earlier arrest at age 15 in connection with the 2018 drive-by killing of 16-year-old Calvin Harvey.
Did anyone in the Macon area have contact with Shamarian or information about tensions between local groups that could shed light on why he was targeted?
