Javoris Jonquil Scott, 29, died on October 6, 2021, after a shooting at a residence on Bryan’s Bridge Road in Screven County near Sylvania, Georgia. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation says the shooting arose from a domestic dispute between Scott and his 70-year-old grandfather, Walter Washington. Scott was taken to a local hospital and later died of his injuries. The Screven County Sheriff’s Office asked the GBI to lead the death investigation and an autopsy was scheduled at the GBI Crime Lab in Pooler.
Walter Washington was arrested on October 7, 2021, and initially charged with one count of Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon; he was booked into the Screven County Jail.
If anyone has information about the dispute or the events at the Bryan’s Bridge Road residence on October 6, 2021, please come forward.
