Thadeus Statum was 31 when he was shot on September 30, 2021, in Mableton, Georgia. Officers found him in the passenger seat of a vehicle that had crashed through a chain-link fence on Blackhawk Trail; he had a gunshot wound to his lower abdomen and was pronounced dead at Cobb Hospital.
The driver told police that he and Statum had been set up by two men who intended to rob them. The driver said one of the suspects, later identified as 25-year-old Brandon Glover, exited a vehicle and fired into their car. The driver provided descriptions plus a phone number and a license plate that helped investigators. Eyewitnesses identified Glover from a photo lineup and he was arrested and charged with malice murder, four counts of felony murder, aggravated assault, conspiracy to commit armed robbery, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
Glover was convicted by a jury on March 15, 2024, and sentenced by a Superior Court Judge to life without parole plus 45 years. Statum was a father to a young daughter and was expecting a second child at the time of his death. Does anyone have information about Statum’s movements that night or the vehicle involved on Blackhawk Trail?
