On the evening of Wednesday, September 22, 2021, 19-year-old Keshyah Marquis Farley was shot on the 1700 block of McIver Drive in Albany, Georgia. Officers from the Albany Police Department found Farley with a gunshot wound; he was taken to a local hospital and pronounced dead.
Initial reports gave few details about motive or the events leading up to the shooting. Less than a month later, authorities announced arrests in connection with Farley’s death, and a grand jury returned indictments charging three individuals for their alleged roles. Specific charges and the suspects’ identities were not widely publicized in the earliest reports.
Farley was identified as a Black male. For family and friends, the arrests and indictments represented an important step in the legal process after a sudden and fatal act of gun violence.
