Rodrigo Francisco Juan, 43, was shot and killed in the front yard of his mobile home on Ira Drive in Tifton, Georgia, on the night of May 23, 2021. A native of Guatemala and a father of three, he had returned from Florida to get his truck repaired and encountered a group of teenagers attempting to break into his red, two-door 1997 Dodge Ram 1500. Officers arrived at about 11:49 p.m. and found him lying in the yard with multiple gunshot wounds; he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation led the subsequent inquiry and determined Mr. Juan confronted the individuals tampering with his vehicle. Two local teenagers, Omarion Hayes, then 16, and Sebastian Sanchez, then 17, were arrested; authorities described them as affiliated with a gang and part of a car break-in ring, and said the pickup had been stolen from the scene. The DA called the killing a senseless act carried out by gang-affiliated teenagers armed with stolen guns.
If anyone knew Rodrigo, saw his truck, or has information about the break-in ring active in Tifton that night, please share what is known.
