Zacheriah Zach Douglas Wright, 20, of Toombs County, was found with a gunshot wound to his torso on RT Lane in Montgomery County, Georgia, on the evening of Monday, May 17, 2021. He was transported to Meadows Regional Medical Center in Vidalia but died a short time later; an autopsy confirmed a single gunshot wound as the cause of death.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation led the probe, assisted by the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, Vidalia Police Department, and Toombs County Sheriff’s Office. On May 19, 2021, the GBI obtained arrest warrants for 35-year-old Willie James Rogers of Jacksonville, Florida; Rogers was already in custody at the Toombs County Detention Center on unrelated charges. On May 21, 2021, the U.S. Marshals Service Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force arrested 35-year-old TaLawrence Terraine Vickers, also known as Saga, in Augusta. Warrants for Vickers charged him with counts similar to Rogers and added participation in criminal gang activity.
The investigation remained active. If anyone has information about Zach, his movements that evening, or the people named, please come forward.
