On Wednesday, May 5, 2021, 32-year-old Lance Michael Terrell was fatally shot at the Magnolia Court Motel in Macon, Georgia, during a dispute over rent money. Terrell had been attempting to collect the rent when he reportedly knocked on the wrong door, leading to a confrontation. The occupant behind that door, identified as William Lee Daniel III, shot Terrell.

Terrell was taken to Atrium Health Navicent, where he died of his injuries. Daniel fled across Pio Nono Avenue after the shooting but was identified by the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office and arrested shortly afterward. Initially charged with murder, aggravated assault, and a probation violation, the case against Daniel was active as of this date.
