On March 23, 2021, 28-year-old David Wesley Lawson of McIntyre was found shot to death inside his car on North Lake Shore Drive in Ivey, Georgia. Lawson was a father of two young sons, engaged to be married, and remembered in his community as kind and generous.
The investigation focused on a close friend, 31-year-old Christopher Dale Tiggs. The two had been friends for nearly a decade, shared a passion for racing dirt bikes, and had lived together at one point. According to reports, a heated argument that night — reportedly over whose friend owned a faster four-wheeler — escalated and ended with Lawson shot in his vehicle. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation responded and Tiggs was arrested and booked at the Wilkinson County Detention Center the following day; he was initially charged with murder and felony obstruction.
Lawson’s family continues to grieve the loss of a son, brother, and father taken in a confrontation with someone he considered a brother. If anyone has information about that night or knew David, please share what you know.
