Elijah Jones was 16 when he was fatally shot on December 21, 2020, in Macon, Georgia, during an attempt to sell a handgun. The encounter began on Scotland Avenue when Jones and another teenager, Tyrin Riggins, met a group of young men. An individual reached into the vehicle Jones was driving and tried to seize the firearm; as Jones tried to drive away, shots were fired into the car, striking Jones in the upper torso and Riggins in the leg.
Riggins managed to move Jones into the passenger seat and drive to the Sandy Springs apartment complex on Bloomfield Road to seek help and call 911. Elijah Jones died at the apartment complex shortly after their arrival. He was a father to a nine-month-old daughter and one of six siblings; family described him as hardworking and kind-hearted.
Authorities arrested 15-year-old Micah Franklin and 17-year-old Jaquandre Burden and charged both as adults with murder and aggravated assault. Three other individuals were being sought in connection: 19-year-old Christopher Bonner, 17-year-old Kimarion Manor, and 16-year-old Naylan Jontez Woodford. Does anyone have information about Elijah, the meeting on Scotland Avenue, or the people named in the case?
