On the evening of December 13, 2020, 16-year-old Armondo A.J. Kimbrough was shot while walking to a local store near Hopkins Court in a wooded residential area of Powder Springs, Georgia. He was with two 13-year-old companions when a vehicle drove by and an occupant or occupants fired into their group. All three boys were struck; Kimbrough died at a hospital and the two younger victims were treated for their injuries.

Powder Springs and Cobb County detectives investigated the drive-by shooting but were initially unable to identify a suspect or describe the vehicle. Kimbrough’s grandmother, who heard the gunshots, said she believed the attack was a case of mistaken identity and described him as a young man who had just gotten his first job. As of early 2026 no arrests have been announced and the case remains unsolved, with investigators citing a lack of cooperation from potential witnesses.

Did anyone in the neighborhood see that vehicle or remember anything about that evening that could help the investigation?
