Courvoisie Jamal Reid, a 31-year-old Black man from Macon, was killed late on December 6, 2020, at a home in the 4000 block of Shearwater Drive. Investigators say the incident began as a domestic disturbance inside the residence and Reid became involved in a physical altercation with his girlfriend. Witnesses told deputies that during the chaos Jeremy Travontia Brown produced a firearm and fired multiple shots; Reid was struck in the upper body and pronounced dead at the scene by the Bibb County Coroner’s Office. No one else was reported injured.

Brown fled before deputies arrived, turning the homicide into an immediate search for a suspect. By about 4:00 a.m. on December 7 he contacted investigators about surrendering and was brought to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Investigations Office, where he was interviewed and then booked into the Bibb County Jail on a murder charge and held without bond. The shooting happened during a domestic confrontation and left Reid dead at the scene.

If anyone saw or heard anything that night on Shearwater Drive or knows more about what happened inside the home, please share what is known with investigators.
