A late-evening shooting on November 15, 2020, at Melrose Mobile Home Park on Museum Circle in Clayton County, Georgia, left two men dead and several others wounded. Officers found 34-year-old Carlos Rebolledo fatally shot in a grassy area; three other people were struck that night. One of them, 34-year-old Everardo Esparza of Jonesboro, was taken to a hospital and later died. Two additional victims suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
Investigators initially described the scene as a chaotic burst of gunfire and said the motive was not immediately clear. In February 2021, authorities identified and arrested 20-year-old Alberto Ayala Penaloza of Roswell; he was charged with one count of murder and one count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and held without bond. The investigation into the double homicide remained ongoing.
