On the morning of November 5, 2020, gunfire at a residence on Brantley Road in Vidalia, Georgia, left two men dead. Nicholas Nichols, 27, was found in the yard of the home with fatal gunshot wounds alongside 32-year-old Kevin Loredo; both were pronounced dead at the scene. The Vidalia Police Department called the Georgia Bureau of Investigation to assist.

A 25-year-old man, Lenworth Welsh, was at the scene and involved in an armed confrontation with at least one of the deceased. Welsh told authorities he acted in self-defense and cooperated with investigators. He was being questioned and no charges had been filed at that time; the case was to be reviewed by the Middle Circuit District Attorney’s Office.
