On October 19, 2020, deputies from the Newton County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence off Spring Road in Covington, Georgia, and found 19-year-old Quindadarius Ronshay Russell with a fatal gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene and the case was treated as a homicide.
Within weeks investigators identified a suspect. On November 4, 2020, 17-year-old Amorieyan Weaver of Covington was arrested without incident during the execution of a search warrant and booked into the Newton County Jail. Weaver was charged with malice murder, felony murder, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm or knife during the commission of a crime and was initially held without bond.
Investigators reported that Weaver and Russell had a recent relationship Weaver had attempted to keep secret and that disagreements in that relationship appear to have been a motive. Phone records, surveillance footage, and social media tied Weaver to communications with Russell, including contacts made using an ex-girlfriend’s social media account.
Anyone who knew Quindadarius Russell or has information about the events leading up to October 19, 2020, is asked to come forward.
