Hoyt Taylor Daniel, 18, was found dead on the morning of October 12, 2020, alongside U.S. Highway 78 at the end of his father’s driveway in Tallapoosa, Georgia. Utility workers made the discovery, and investigators determined Daniel had been fatally shot, likely the previous night. Authorities say he was attempting to sell a handgun when the deadly encounter occurred.
The Haralson County Sheriff’s Office, assisted by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, identified a suspect within days. The firearm believed to be used in the shooting was recovered at arrest. The charged individual was brought to trial, found guilty of malice murder, felony murder, aggravated assault, armed robbery and related weapon offenses, and received two consecutive life sentences.
Does anyone have information about Daniel’s movements in Tallapoosa or the firearm sale that night?
