Earnest Manker, 60, was found fatally shot in his black Chevrolet Malibu near Forsyth Park at the intersection of Whitaker and Huntington streets in Savannah on Thursday, August 27, 2020. The person who discovered him initially did not realize he was dead; an autopsy later confirmed death by gunshot and the Savannah Police Department ruled the case a homicide.

Manker lived in Jasper County, South Carolina, about a 45-minute drive from Savannah, and worked there as a bus driver; he had been named Jasper County’s Operations Employee of the Year in 2014. Friends described him as leading a simple, happy life and having acquaintances in Savannah, but no clear motive or immediate suspect emerged. Detectives canvassed the area and sought surveillance and witness tips, but the case remained unsolved and no arrests had been announced.

Did anyone in the Forsyth Park area on August 27, 2020, see or hear anything that could help explain why Manker was killed?
