A shooting at a business in the 600 block of Satellite Boulevard in Suwanee, Georgia, in August 2020 killed 38-year-old James Ross of Loganville. First responders arrived after reports of an active shooter and found Ross with gunshot wounds; he was taken to a hospital where he later died. Other employees were present; one person suffered a minor injury while fleeing.
Gwinnett County Police, assisted by Suwanee Police, identified 18-year-old Joshua Brandt of Gainesville as the suspect. Eyewitnesses described the shooter as a tall, thin male dressed in a long white garment with white head and face coverings. Brandt was taken into custody the day after the shooting and charged with Felony Murder and Aggravated Assault. Investigators said Ross appeared to have been the intended target and noted Brandt had a minor criminal history. Brandt was also linked as a person of interest in a fatal stabbing that occurred eleven days earlier about two miles away; that victim was a former high school classmate of Brandt’s.
Are there details about Ross’s time at the company or about the days before the shooting that anyone can share?
