Devaun Patton was 16 when he was shot and killed in the parking lot of a Family Dollar on Rocky Creek Road in Macon, Georgia, on the evening of July 17, 2020. The shooting followed an altercation; Patton was taken to a local hospital and later died of his injuries. Family members remembered him as loving and caring, and the community called for an end to the violence after his death.

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office investigated the homicide, and on July 20, 2020 a 17-year-old male named Tyreon Parks turned himself in. Parks was interviewed by investigators, charged with Patton’s murder, and booked into the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center held without bond.
