A midday crime spree on July 10, 2020, in Union City, Georgia, left two men dead and other victims wounded. The first shooting occurred around 3:30 p.m. at the Exxon station on 6687 Roosevelt Highway, where Cortez Raymond Miliam was found with fatal gunshot wounds and pronounced dead at the scene. Shortly after, at about 3:46 p.m., a separate shooting at Lee Street and Roosevelt Highway wounded two more people; one of those victims, Byron Davis, later died and the other was reported in critical condition.
Union City Police publicly sought Marcus Blue Bowles for questioning in connection with Miliam’s death, though he was not officially named as a suspect in that announcement. Investigators also identified Calvin Woodard and his cousin Xavier Woodard as persons of interest in the second shooting. On September 2, 2020, state troopers arrested Calvin Woodard after a vehicle pursuit on I-285; officers say he discarded a handgun and suspected narcotics during the chase before being turned over to Union City police. No public information has been released about arrests of Marcus Blue Bowles or Xavier Woodard.
If anyone has information about the shootings at Roosevelt Highway on July 10, 2020, please come forward.
