Hunter Samuel Arlyn Grizzell was 18 when he died from a single gunshot wound to the head on Thursday, April 23, 2020, at a home on Cokesbury Highway in Hartwell, Georgia. Emergency services found him at the scene and he was pronounced dead there; his body was sent to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Crime Lab for autopsy.

The Hart County Sheriff described the incident as an accidental shooting. Grizzell, who lived at the Cokesbury Highway address and was originally from Elberton, was reportedly struggling to remove the magazine clip from his pistol when the firearm discharged. A juvenile present at the scene told investigators the gun fired while Grizzell was attempting to get the clip out. No arrests were made.

His family remembered him as kind-hearted, someone who stood up for others, who enjoyed mechanical work, hunting and fishing, and helped friends by repairing their cars. If anyone was at the home that day or has additional information about what happened, please share what is known.
