Jason Roy Fowler, 28, died on April 23, 2020, after a firearm accident in his mobile home in Jones County, just outside Macon, Georgia. Fowler, a construction worker and father who had lived in the Macon area for six years, was shot in the back when his two-year-old child found and handled a handgun that belonged to him. He called for help but was pronounced dead at about 9:40 p.m. when deputies arrived.
Only Fowler and the toddler were in the residence at the time. The Jones County Sheriff’s Office investigated and confirmed the gun belonged to Fowler; the shooting was ruled an accident. No arrests were made and no suspects were sought. Fowler left behind his fiancée and several children.
Did anyone in the area know Fowler or have details about how firearms were stored in that household?
