Quintavius Antwan Thomas, 31, was shot to death at a residence on McAfina Trail in Valdosta, Georgia, on the evening of Friday, April 3, 2020. Police responded to a shooting call about 8:09 p.m. and found Thomas dead from a gunshot wound to his upper body.

Investigators say a physical altercation occurred between Thomas and another person, identified as Dontavia Freeman. During the struggle Freeman allegedly obtained a handgun and fired, striking Thomas and a second person; that injured person was taken to South Georgia Medical Center in serious condition. Freeman fled but was later found at a residence on Schroer Drive, arrested without incident, and evidence linking him to the shooting was recovered there. He was booked on felony murder, two counts of aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.
