On the morning of Saturday, March 14, 2020, 17-year-old Jamonte Solomon was shot and killed in the parking lot of a Huddle House on East Hancock Street in Milledgeville, Georgia. The shooting occurred about 4:15 a.m.; a 24-year-old man, Eric Marshall, was also wounded. Investigators believe the homicide was gang-related and that it triggered a wave of retaliatory violence across Milledgeville and Baldwin County, including multiple shootings and a house fire later determined to be arson.
Three local men were arrested and charged in connection with Solomon’s death: 20-year-old Keandre Bolston, 29-year-old Armontae Trawick, and 17-year-old Deangelo Hartry. Trawick was initially detained on a tampering-with-evidence allegation at the scene before being charged with murder. Bolston had his probation from a 2018 case revoked and was later serving a 20-year sentence on unrelated charges; as of August 2021 the murder charge against him remained pending. A friend of Solomon’s, Eric Sanford, pleaded guilty to four counts of aggravated assault and one count of criminal street gang activity for his role in the subsequent drive-by shootings and received a 15-year sentence.
Did anyone in the Milledgeville area have information about Solomon’s activities or acquaintances around March 14, 2020?
