On the late evening of Tuesday, February 18, 2020, 29-year-old Julia Taniesha Nicole Malachi of Cartersville, Georgia, was fatally shot at a motel on Joe Frank Harris Parkway. Witnesses at the scene described her as the mother of two young boys.

The day after the shooting authorities identified a suspect and arrested 35-year-old Tavares Zavoyd Atwell of Cartersville in Doraville, Georgia. Witnesses said Atwell was in a relationship with Malachi. He was booked into the Bartow County jail on February 19, 2020 and charged with murder with malice under the Family Violence Act, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

What details about Julia’s last hours or the motel scene might help explain what happened, and can anyone who was in that area on February 18 help fill in the timeline?
