Amanda Perrault, 44, was found dead of a gunshot wound to the head in the master bedroom of her Eatonton, Georgia home on February 3, 2020. Her husband, Eatonton police officer Seth Perrault, called authorities and said Amanda had shot herself during an argument. Putnam County Sheriff Howard Sills reported the body’s position in the bed appeared inconsistent with a self-inflicted wound, and investigators noted a recent history of domestic conflict.
Neighbors described frequent, intense arguments with Seth identified as the aggressor. Six days before Amanda’s death she called 911 reporting that her husband had assaulted her; Seth was arrested on simple battery and family violence charges and released on bond five days before she died. The GBI forensic pathologist later ruled the manner of death a suicide, a finding that surprised Sheriff Sills and the district attorney. A jailhouse informant said Seth had told him he gave Amanda painkillers and that she was passed out at the time of death.
Prosecutors emphasized the domestic violence history and scene inconsistencies when taking the case to a grand jury, which returned an indictment for murder. If anyone knew Amanda, the couple, or heard those arguments in Eatonton, can you share what you remember?
