Jahfari Shakwun Bullard was 19 when he was shot in Macon’s Pleasant Hill neighborhood on the night of Wednesday, January 22, 2020. He was found at the intersection of Lamar Street and Ferguson Street with a gunshot wound to his stomach, taken to a nearby hospital, and died in the early hours of Thursday, January 23.
Bullard’s death came amid a cluster of violent incidents in Macon that week; his family recalled him as a goofy kid with his whole life ahead of him, while neighbors voiced growing frustration and sadness over ongoing violence. The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office investigated; two days after the shooting a man named Germori Amel Mallory turned himself in and was charged in connection with the shooting. Mallory was booked into the county jail and held without bond.
If anyone knew Bullard, his movements that night, or has information about what happened at Lamar and Ferguson streets, please share what you know.
