Kim Bessellieu, 53, was shot to death at her Amber Trail Apartments residence in Duluth, Georgia, on September 1, 2019. The shooting happened just before 11 p.m. after someone knocked on her door; her roommate heard the gunshot and found Bessellieu bleeding near the doorway. Police have described the death as a homicide.

Witnesses reported two masked men in all-black clothing fleeing the scene. A 48-year-old man, Kevin Hudson, confronted the suspects in the parking lot and was injured; his wounds were described as non-life-threatening and he was taken to a local hospital. Gwinnett County police used K-9 units and opened a homicide investigation but have not arrested anyone or publicly disclosed a motive. Initial reports suggested it was not a robbery, but investigators have not said whether anything was taken.

If anyone has information about the shooting or the two men seen fleeing, please contact Gwinnett County police.
