Travis Eady, 32, was shot in Savannah’s Yamacraw Village on the evening of August 29, 2019. Officers responding to reports of gunfire near West Bryan Street found Eady with a gunshot wound; he was taken to a nearby hospital but died from his injuries. The shooting prompted an intensive investigation by the Savannah Police Department’s Violent Crimes Task Force.

Investigators, working with the U.S. Marshals, pursued leads for several weeks. In early October 2019 authorities named 23-year-old Johnathan Walker as the primary suspect and arrested him without incident in the Fraser Holmes neighborhood near Gwinnett and Montgomery Street. Walker was charged with Eady’s murder.
