On May 27, 2019, a recreational outing at the Savannah Quick Shot indoor gun range on White Bluff Road ended in tragedy when 59-year-old John Salvati was struck by a single gunshot fired by a member of his own party. Emergency services arrived around 3:00 p.m.; Salvati was taken to Memorial Medical Center with a serious gunshot wound and later died there.

Savannah Police Department Violent Crimes detectives investigated the shooting and determined it was accidental. Authorities said they did not expect to file charges in connection with the death, and the investigation remained ongoing for a period afterward.

If anyone was at the range that afternoon or has information about what happened, please share what is known.
