On the night of January 1, 2019, Jamar Davis Jr., 20, was found with a fatal gunshot wound in the 100 block of Tibet Avenue in Savannah. Officers responded about 11:30 p.m. to a report of an unresponsive person; the scene was later handled as a homicide by the Savannah Police Department’s Violent Crimes detectives.

Investigators continued the inquiry through 2019, but in January 2020 the department said Davis’s killing was one of seven homicides from the previous year that remained unsolved. No suspects have been publicly identified and no arrests have been announced in connection with his death.

The investigation has drawn public appeals for information but the family remains without closure. If anyone has information about what happened on Tibet Avenue that night, please come forward to assist the investigation.
