Stacy Deon Devero, a 30-year-old man, was fatally shot in the neck on October 8, 2018, in Dublin, Georgia. The shooting was reported as the result of a drug deal gone bad. Devero was taken to Fairview Park Hospital and pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
Two 18-year-old suspects, Jacorey Reese and Jamil Thompkins, were taken into custody in connection with the killing. Reese’s first trial ended in a hung jury; a second trial acquitted him of malice murder but convicted him of felony murder. That felony murder conviction was later reversed by the Supreme Court of Georgia because of an error in the jury instructions, and the court said the state could choose to retry him. Both men were later indicted in a RICO case against the Money Power Loyalty street gang and accepted plea deals in April 2025; the plea agreements and sentences relate to broader gang charges and to other killings, and the resolution of charges tied specifically to Devero’s death is not detailed.
Does anyone have additional information about Devero’s last known movements or about witnesses from the scene?
