Michael Antwan Chapman, a 30-year-old Black man, was fatally shot in south Macon, Georgia, on the evening of September 15, 2018. Bibb County deputies responded to a person-shot call on Burke Street just after 7:20 p.m. and found Chapman lying in the roadway with multiple gunshot wounds; he was taken to Navicent Health Center and pronounced dead.
The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office asked the public for help in the investigation. A tip on November 2, 2018, led to a coordinated raid at a residence in the 2100 block of Joseph Waller Drive where 18-year-old DeQuavious Jamal Howard was arrested without incident. He was charged with Armed Robbery and Murder and booked at the Bibb County Law Enforcement Complex.
Two others at the residence were also arrested: 39-year-old Crystal Reese and 18-year-old Makayla Bowden, each charged with aiding or hindering the apprehension of a fugitive; Bowden faced additional charges of possession of schedule 2 drugs and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. Does anyone have information about Chapman’s final hours or the events on Burke Street that evening?
