On the early morning of August 25, 2018, 39-year-old Montez Love-Bullock was found unresponsive in the middle of Apple Grove Road in Buford, Georgia, after suffering a fatal gunshot wound. Gwinnett County police responded to 911 calls around 1 a.m.; neighbors reported a person down in the street and first responders pronounced Montez dead at the scene.

Police say the incident followed a domestic dispute at the couple’s home. Investigators report two 911 calls from Montez’s wife, Christy Love-Bullock, then 39 — one requesting assistance to remove a man from the house and a second saying the man had left. A 16-year-old daughter told police she heard her parents arguing, a gunshot, Montez say he was leaving and the sound of him falling down stairs, and then another gunshot as he exited. A bullet hole was found in the front door.

Christy Love-Bullock was arrested at the scene and initially charged with aggravated assault and felony murder; a November 2018 grand jury indictment upgraded charges to include malice murder.
