On March 7, 2015, 22-year-old Travis Powell was shot and killed while attending a house party in Chico, California. The fight that erupted at the party spilled into the streets near West Seventh and Oak Streets; Powell and two others were shot, and he later died at Enloe Medical Center. The same altercation left two people stabbed and another injured by a glass bottle.
Powell was a junior at California State University, Chico, majoring in criminal justice and hoping to become a game warden. Professors and classmates remembered him as a kind, determined student who excelled academically and in sports. The campus held a memorial service and the university lowered its flag in his honor. The suspects were unidentified and the Chico Police Department asked witnesses or anyone with video to come forward.
If anyone attended that party or has footage or information about the shooting, please share what you know with Chico police.
