A dispute at a house on Berkner Avenue in Macon, Georgia, turned deadly in the early hours of April 14, 2018. Jim Julius Baldwin, 44, had been at a gathering the night before when Tirell Mitchell arrived angry over an earlier argument involving his girlfriend. Witnesses said Mitchell became agitated, refused to leave, and prevented Baldwin from leaving the home. A physical fight followed and Baldwin was shot in the leg; an imprint from the gun was later found on his thigh.
Baldwin ran toward his sister’s home on nearby Saint Claire Street but collapsed in the driveway. Emergency responders called around 1:00 a.m. transported him to Navicent Health, where he died at 1:48 a.m. from a gunshot wound to the main artery in his leg. Mitchell was identified as a person of interest and charged with murder the same day.
Are there witnesses or neighbors who remember that night or saw activity on Berkner Avenue or Saint Claire Street?
