On the evening of Saturday, March 3, 2018, 23-year-old Kalliber Len Chambers of Lithia Springs was fatally shot at Birch Landing Apartments on Maxham Road in Austell, Georgia. According to eyewitnesses, Chambers confronted 34-year-old Mark Wayne Munn about allegedly driving fast and recklessly inside the apartment complex. The confrontation in the parking lot turned verbal and then deadly when Munn produced a weapon and shot Chambers.

Police identified Munn as the shooter and took him into custody; he was charged with murder and denied bond at his initial court appearance. The case has proceeded through the courts and a conviction for the malice murder of Chambers is part of the record. Chambers was a young man engaged in a dispute over safety in his neighborhood when his life ended.
