Seventeen-year-old Jalen Camron was found fatally injured face down in the yard of a home on Gristmill Court in Riverdale, Georgia, on the evening of Saturday, January 13, 2018. Witnesses reported hearing two distinct pops, then someone banging on a rear door and screaming for help before the discovery.
Clayton County detectives identified 22-year-old Dantae Lamar Jones as a suspect and issued a murder warrant. Jones was located and arrested after barricading himself in a Gordon County hotel room on January 15. A second individual, a 16-year-old male, was arrested the next day; his name has not been released because of his age.
Prosecutors later said Jones drove Camron and others to an abandoned house that night, ordered Camron out of the vehicle, and shot him. Jones was convicted on multiple counts, including malice murder, felony murder, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and violations of Georgia’s Street Gang Terrorism and Prevention Act, and was sentenced to life without parole.
Did anyone in Riverdale know Jalen or have information about his movements that night?
