An afternoon at a Savannah laundromat ended in fatal violence on November 2, 2017. Stanley Owen Anderson, 62 and a lifelong Savannah resident, was shot inside the Suds Laundromat on Largo Drive. Police arrived about 3:15 p.m. and found two people with gunshot wounds. Anderson was taken to a nearby hospital and died of his injuries. A 65-year-old woman was also shot and survived with injuries described as not life-threatening.
Officers identified a suspect who remained at the scene and took 70-year-old Samuel Hutchinson into custody. Hutchinson was charged with murder in Anderson’s death and with aggravated assault for the woman’s injuries. This shooting was recorded as Savannah’s 33rd homicide of 2017.
If anyone was at the laundromat that afternoon or has information about what happened, please share tips with investigators.
